Why do you think my sister inlaw sends me nasty age joke birthday cards now starting 3-4 yrs. ago?

In one of the last few times she used to send me beautiful beautiful birthday cards.
She was 10 years. older than me, so I feel terribly uncomfortable to do the same for her.
We do not have that style of relationship - We're not close.
But as she always looks really worried Abt age, I would not do that to her. I think that's pretty harsh reality.
However, my real sister and me to alert an exaggerated jokes across age because between us it's halarious.
My sister has always seemed likely compete w / me "sometimes" and always acts cranky and miserable at times as a family.
I ...... separate I do not know exactly where it comes w / this.
It does not do that to my husband.
She is married to the brother of my husband.

Asked by the card again and send her on her birthday with a note saying it was so funny it could not be out done, you wanted him to take his turn to enjoy! She could get angry, or she might get booed and then you can call it both ways for years - I read somewhere childhood friends are still sending the other Valentine's silly even after 50 years.

I reconcile it may be jealous of you and your sister relationship, and awkwardly tries to capture the fun. And the card may be the key to see another side of her.

She may think it's fun and you enjoy it ... she might want to have the same kind of relationship you have with your sister. Ultimately, if I were you I would ignore it, as you say it is "competative / in a fit of pique and miserable" ... Remember, it is one that has the problem with aging. In fact, do not even try to understand why she did it ... it can only serve to create even more tension in the family.

Jealousy, Heath simplicity. This does not bother me card Jokey age birthday for a 30th, 40th, etc. 50th as compensation. but to send a year - the joke runs a little thin then.
